Memorial day & the 4 freedoms

Today on Memorial Day, I am thinking of the Four Freedoms Speech by FDR in 1941 State of the Union address, where he articulated four fundamental freedoms should apply to people "everywhere in the world":

1.         Freedom of speech and expression

2.         Freedom of worship

3.         Freedom from want

4.         Freedom from fear

FDR also said “In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved. And with this freedom, we find the happiness in honoring those who sacrificed for it."

 - Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Best wishes,
