Can you buy happiness? Yes, here's how

Can you buy happiness? Yes, you can, and I do not mean coffee or dessert.

You can preorder my new book for 99 cents!  and in my new book Choose MY Happy Place: A short cut to a happier next stage in life , discover more about how to buy happiness.  Here's a sample:

The three main ways to buy happiness, per the research:

1.     Investing in others can make one feel healthier and wealthier. “Research demonstrating that people derive more satisfaction spending money on others than they do spending it on themselves spans poor and rich countries alike, as well as income levels. The authors show how this phenomenon extends over an extraordinary range of circumstances, from a Canadian college student purchasing a scarf for her mother to a Ugandan woman buying lifesaving malaria medication for a friend. Indeed, the benefits of giving emerge among children before the age of two. Investing in others can make individuals feel healthier and wealthier, even if it means making yourself a little poorer to reap these benefits. One study shows that giving as little as $1 away can cause you to feel more flush.”
2.     Spending to save time
3.     Spending for experiences [1]

I’d add a fourth one for autonomy that I’ve relied on, summarized by Rolf Dobelli

“F*ck-you money refers to the savings that would allow you to quit your job at a moment’s notice without ending up in dire financial straits. One year’s salary, say. Fuck-you money is freedom. More important even than material independence is that fuck-you money allows you to see and think objectively.”[2]
