To me hiking means going up a mountain. I grew up mostly hiking the Adirondacks and the Catskills of NY. Hiking the Appalachian Trail or the 46 Peaks are things I heard people do. But when I tried dessert hiking in NM and AZ, or hiking in ME or CA with gorgeous water views and heights, wow-they are so different and so beautiful. I went hiking last year with someone who didn’t even consider going all the way up the mountain -just out for an hour and back. My mind was blown- I’d never considered not getting to summit and the view! I think she does go out hiking more often so maybe that is a better approach.
But anyway, today I am going to compare 3 places with hills and mountains and over 1M in population; many similarities but clearly many differences too. If these are not your picks, send me your picks and maybe I’ll feature those next.
