Top 10 Lists
- Rose Thun
Have you been scrolling through the Top 10 Places to Retire lists? People love them. I have avoided creating them, but should I? Is that what you’d enjoy?
I am not a fan of Top 10 Places to Retire Lists, and people send them to me all the time. I politely reply, but really- why do you give these lists any credence beyond good eye candy for daydreams?
Top 10 based on what criteria? Whose criteria?
What went into making those lists? How stale is the data that went into making that list?
Surely those lists could be missing something you really want in your life like a live music, a community of mountain bikers or artists or chess players, good libraries, great parks, a decent dermatologist, good pho or pizza, opportunities to collaborate or work or create, a VFW, farmers markets, theater that is thought provoking, community gardens, and whatever else you like to have nearby?
Instead I invite you to make your own list of criteria and pick places to match. If you want to collaborate and start together, join the Sat July 17 the 2 for 1 special and pick priorities in the morning and places in the afternoon.
Best wishes,
Rose
