Purple

  • Rose Thun

This morning I dressed up and put on pearls before we went out for our usual morning walk. I was so excited at the prospect that a woman elected to the White House would be inaugurated.

As we walked, it was an unusual sight. There were dark grey clouds swimming in brilliant blue skies; it seemed appropriate for the uncertainties of this month.

To see Kamala Harris wear purple today, symbolically and actually reaching out to greet everyone, even a reluctant Garth Brooks, was inspiring. I felt so happy to hear the beautiful songs, poetry, emotional speeches, and sense of unity in the inauguration today.

A creative friend has organized an inaugural ball for tonight, where she will be teaching us to cook Indian food and we will celebrate the joy and hopefulness of it all. Yes, the pandemic, angry mobs, economy, all persist too. But for today, I am wearing my sparkling pearls and looking on the bright side.

Also, if you’d been thinking about getting the Cost Report or the Criteria Report, or any of the topic reports, they’re now free on the website.

Best wishes,
Rose
